About this postcard

A corner view of the Hotel Peabody, a massive brick and stone hotel with a white two-story commercial base, rooftop sign reading "HOTEL PEABODY," and American flags on the roof, with 1940s automobiles on the street below. The Peabody opened in 1925 as one of the South's grand hotels, famous for its Italian Renaissance lobby and the resident mallard ducks that march through it daily. The building shown here closed in 1975 and reopened in 1981 after restoration.
