A tall red-brick hotel with a rooftop sign reading "HOTEL ROOSEVELT" and an American flag on a pole, seen from the street corner with 1930s-40s automobiles parked along the curb and awnings over the ground-floor storefronts. The Hotel Roosevelt was one of downtown Cedar Rapids' principal hotels of the mid-twentieth century, standing near the commercial core of the city on the Cedar River. The linen-textured card dates from the era when such tinted, textured views were the standard American postcard format.
Linen-textured stock with visible crosshatch grain; no white border; slight edge wear at corners.
No postmark; unused card. Divided-back linen-era Tichnor view card, "PLACE ONE CENT STAMP HERE" box, printed in blue on cream stock; light edge wear, no damage.
