A curving drive lined with tall coconut palms and beds of pink flowers leads toward the Hotel Royal Worth, a large multi-story winter resort with red tile roofs and a rooftop flag. The hotel stood in West Palm Beach, across Lake Worth from Palm Beach, in the resort trade that grew with Henry Flagler's Florida East Coast Railway. Lake Worth, the narrow tidal lagoon between the two towns, provided winter anchorage for scores of yachts.
