About this postcard

The Hotel Statler stands at Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo, a tall, multi-story building with a large vertical sign and an airplane crossing the clouded sky above. Its promotional text advertises 1,100 rooms "with Bath" and a location convenient to railway terminals, steamer landings, and Niagara Falls routes. The back names sister Statler hotels in Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, St. Louis, Washington, New York, and Pittsburgh, showing the chain's network across major American cities. The emphasis on private baths reflects a time when that amenity still signaled modern, up-to-date hotel service.
