About this postcard

A tinted view across the River Thames toward the Palace of Westminster, with Victoria Tower at the left, the long Gothic river front, the central spire, and the clock tower of Big Ben at the right. Westminster Bridge and moored barges appear at the far right. The palace was rebuilt after the fire of 1834 to designs by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin, and its Victoria Tower and Elizabeth Tower remain landmarks of the London skyline. The sender, A.R.Q., writing to Charlotte S. Hassett in Amesbury, Massachusetts, urges her to visit London with her parents and mentions leaving for Paris the next day.
