The view looks across a lake or bay toward a wooded shore, where several houses sit among dense evergreens. Low mountains rise on the horizon. Castine, Maine, the publisher's base, was a small Penobscot Bay town with a long maritime history and a summer colony by the early 1900s; shore cottages and wooded coves were familiar local postcard subjects.
Real photo postcard; printed headings 'POST CARD / CORRESPONDENCE / ADDRESS' and publisher line 'ETHEL NOYES, CASTINE, ME.'; slight mottling and wear on image. No postmark — card is unused (no stamp, no address). AZO stamp box with triangles up dates the stock to roughly 1904–1918. Dealer pencil marks 'RMLJ 5-' at top left; faint pencil note sideways at lower left, partly illegible ('Jordan' / 'Eva'). Light soiling/toning on cream stock.
