About this postcard

The Hudson Stuck Memorial Hospital stands in a snow-covered clearing at Fort Yukon, Alaska, a long single-story log building with dormer windows and smoking chimneys. Spruce trees rise behind it, and a snowy track leads across the foreground toward the entrance. The Episcopal mission hospital was named for Hudson Stuck, the archdeacon who traveled the Yukon and died in 1920. Fort Yukon is a Gwich'in community on the Yukon River, just north of the Arctic Circle. A sender writing from Fort Yukon in August described "looking around the top of the world" before returning to McCarthy.
