About this postcard
The Ideal Hotel occupies a corner in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, with a crowd of men in suits and hats gathered along the sidewalk and several automobiles parked at the curb. The hotel advertised itself as "A Home Away from Home," one block from the new Hall of Waters, and offered European plan rooms with special weekly rates. Dell and Evelyn Smith are named as proprietors. Excelsior Springs was a mineral-spring resort town, and the Hall of Waters drew visitors who came for the waters; the hotel's location put guests a short walk from the Hall and the town's commercial center.
