About this postcard
Color view of the Indiana State Capitol in Indianapolis, a large Neoclassical building of Indiana limestone with columned porticoes and a central dome topped by a lantern, seen across a lawn with a monument statue on a pedestal at the left and a few strollers on the walk. Completed in 1888 to designs growing out of the 1878 competition, the building houses the Indiana General Assembly and the governor's office and is noted for its interior use of Indiana limestone and oak. The grounds facing it along Market Street hold several monuments, and the dome's cupola has long been a landmark of the city's skyline.
