About this postcard
A color lithograph view of the Indiana State Capitol, a large Neoclassical limestone building with a central dome topped by a lantern and flag, seen across a broad lawn with strolling figures and a curving walkway. Completed in 1888 to designs by Edwin May and Adolph Scherrer, the building houses the Indiana General Assembly, the governor's office, and the state supreme court, and is a contributing property to the Indiana World War Memorial Plaza Historic District. The card's own caption names it simply as the State Capitol, Indianapolis.
