About this postcard

A view down the center aisle of a colonial church interior, with box pews on either side, a raised pulpit with sounding board at right, galleries along the side walls, and the altar with a chandelier and organ case at the far end. The caption identifies it as the interior of Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, which the card calls the oldest Episcopal church in constant use in America. The present brick church was completed in 1715 and served the colonial capital; its restoration in the early twentieth century was part of the Rockefeller-funded reconstruction of Williamsburg.
