About this postcard
The card shows the great seated marble figure of Abraham Lincoln by Daniel Chester French in the central chamber of the Lincoln Memorial, set against a dark green wall and above a red marble pedestal, with the memorial's dedicatory inscription printed above. The Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in 1922 on the west end of the National Mall, and the 19-foot statue was carved from Georgia marble by the Piccirilli Brothers. The inscription above the figure echoes the memorial's role as a temple to Lincoln's preservation of the Union.
