About this postcard
The view looks across rows of empty seats toward the stage of the San Antonio Municipal Auditorium, where drawn-back red curtains reveal a painted stage curtain showing Spanish explorers and Native Americans meeting on a plain. The caption identifies the painting as a mural of the founding of San Antonio by artist Hugo D. Pohl. The city built the auditorium at a cost of $1.5 million with seating for 6,500, plus committee rooms and a 32,000-square-foot exhibit floor. The caption calls it "the most beautiful auditorium, architecturally, in the entire South."
