A broad campus lawn at Iowa College in Grinnell, Iowa, shaded by a large tree whose trunk fills the left foreground. A pink-blossomed tree and darker foliage stand behind it, with a low fence or hedge in the middle distance. The printed caption uses the school's earlier name; Iowa College was founded in Davenport in 1846, moved to Grinnell in 1859, and became Grinnell College in 1909.
Carrie sent the card to a friend in Columbus, Ohio, in September 1908, noting very warm weather and calling the view a fine picture of the campus.
