Iowa state map with large IOWA letters and scenic vignettes, circa 1940

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

The card is a pictorial map of Iowa, with the state name “IOWA” in large red letters across a yellow outline; town names, the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, and small black line drawings of farm and river life fill the map. Numbered vignettes around the border show a grain elevator, cattle, a railroad depot, a monument, a domed capitol building, and riverboats. Such mid-century map cards were produced as tourist souvenirs, combining state geography with local landmarks and industries.
