Israel River and the Presidential Range, Jefferson, New Hampshire, circa 1910

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A view of the Israel River flowing past a gravel bar and low wooded banks, with a single tall tree at right and the blue ridges of the Presidential Range rising across the horizon. The Israel River rises on the slopes of the Presidential Range in the White Mountains and runs through Jefferson, New Hampshire, a town long associated with grand resort hotels and mountain tourism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The card presents the scene in the tinted, stippled style typical of inexpensive color lithography of the era.
