About this postcard

The white excursion launch carries passengers along a wooded lakeshore, its hull and the tree line mirrored in calm water. Dark foliage and a tree trunk frame the foreground. The launch made daily excursions from Douglas Lodge to the beginning of the Mississippi, carrying park visitors to the river's headwaters. Itasca State Park, set aside in 1891 around Lake Itasca, drew summer visitors to that source.
