About this postcard

View of the Japanese Tea Garden and Sunken Gardens in Brackenridge Park, San Antonio, with a lily pond and water lilies in the foreground, flower-lined stone walkways, a pagoda-roofed pavilion, and rocky limestone ledges and a stone stairway at right. A tall smokestack rises at left against a sunset sky. The garden was made from an abandoned rock quarry and was described as one of the show places of America. San Antonio employed a Japanese manager to run the tea garden, where visitors could refresh themselves while taking in the scenery. The rugged ledges and stairway suggest the site's quarry origins.
