The scene is a detail from Einsiedeln's Panorama of the Crucifixion of Christ, a large painted panorama that was a devotional attraction in the pilgrimage town. It shows the Jeremiasgrotte, with dark tents pitched on rocky, uneven ground and a large tree rising at center. Figures in long robes and head coverings gather among the tents and boulders, and rolling, sparsely settled hills stretch to the horizon. The caption identifies the tents as shelter for poor pilgrims.
White border around the image; sepia-toned photographic print with a few small spots and blemishes in the sky area. No printed text on the front.
No postmark. Divided-back card with vertical divider printed 'Benziger'; German printed caption; pencil dealer/price mark 'RML J $4-' at top right; no message or address written. Cream matte card stock, slight foxing.
