About this postcard

A three-story brick and stone commercial building with a heavy bracketed cornice, a band lettered "KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS," and two-story engaged columns framing large windows above storefronts; pedestrians and a small wagon appear on the sidewalk. The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal benefit society founded in 1882, built such council halls in many American cities in the early 20th century, combining meeting rooms with ground-floor commercial space. The card's halftone rendering and numbering are typical of color printed views issued around 1910-1920.
