About this postcard

The main house at Hearst Castle, La Casa Grande, stands above palms in San Simeon, California, with its twin bell towers and a sculpture in the foreground. William Randolph Hearst and architect Julia Morgan built the estate on a hill above the Pacific between 1919 and 1947, drawing on Spanish Renaissance and Mediterranean forms. After Hearst's death the property became a state historical monument, and by the late 1950s visitors could tour the house and grounds.
