About this postcard

The Ladd House stands behind a white picket fence, a three-story clapboarded Georgian dwelling with dark green shutters, a small pedimented entrance porch, and large old trees shading the yard; a small gabled outbuilding sits at the left. Dated to 1760, it belongs among Portsmouth's colonial merchant houses, whose Georgian detailing included symmetrical sash windows, paneled doorways, and hipped or gambrel roofs. The house is presented as one of the town's old landmarks.
