About this postcard
An elevated view over the rooftops and treetops of Burlington, Vermont, looking west across Lake Champlain toward the Adirondack Mountains under a pink and gray sunset sky, with a side-wheel steamer and a small sailboat out on the water. The card was issued by the Detroit Publishing Company, whose numbered color views of American scenery circulated widely in the first decade of the twentieth century. Burlington was then a lumber and textile town and a busy Lake Champlain port served by steamboat lines running to New York and Canada.
