About this postcard

A quiet lake ringed by large shade trees in Forest Park, with visitors lounging on the grassy bank and a few small boats and figures on the water. Forest Park, opened in 1876 on the western edge of St. Louis, covers roughly 1,300 acres and was the site of the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition; its lakes, boathouses and shaded drives made it a favorite recreation ground, and it remains home to the Saint Louis Zoo, Art Museum and Science Center.
