A calm lake fills most of the view, with a dense band of trees along the far shore and a large tree framing the right side. In the foreground, a grassy bank dotted with small flowers slopes down to the water.
The lake sits in Izaak Walton Park in Burlington, Iowa, a Mississippi River city in the southeast corner of the state. The park takes its name from Izaak Walton, the seventeenth-century English author of The Compleat Angler, a fitting namesake for a quiet public lake.
