About this postcard

A view across the lake in Nottingham's Arboretum, with visitors strolling along the far bank in front of a range of glass-roofed pavilions and dense trees, the whole scene mirrored in the still water. The Nottingham Arboretum opened in 1852 as one of England's first publicly owned parks, laid out by Samuel Curtis with a lake, rockwork and a conservatory, and it remains a Grade II* listed historic park today.
