A calm Lake Louise fills the foreground, with snow-capped mountains of the Canadian Rockies rising beyond and dense evergreen forest along the right shore. The lake lies in Banff National Park, established in the 1880s, and by the early 1900s it was a regular stop on Canadian Pacific Railway tours and a common subject for Banff photographers such as Byron Harmon.
