About this postcard

A view across a still lake on the Cone Estate near Blowing Rock, with a small white building with a red roof and a red frame structure set among lawns and dense green woodland, and wooded hills rising behind. The estate was the country retreat of textile magnate Moses H. Cone and his wife Bertha, whose grounds and Flat Top Manor later became Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, administered by the National Park Service. The card's linen-era coloring and numbering date it to the mid-20th century, when the Blue Ridge highlands around Blowing Rock were a popular resort destination.
