A rowboat with two figures glides across the still lake at Westlake Park, framed by palms, tall cypresses and beds of red canna or salvia along the curving concrete shore. Westlake Park (now MacArthur Park) opened in the 1880s as one of Los Angeles's earliest public parks, built around a former swamp fed by natural springs; by the 1930s it was a popular promenade with boating on the lake. The card's bright, saturated palette and visible canvas texture are typical of the linen era.
White border; visible linen/canvas texture; small negative number "4150" printed in the lower right corner of the image.
No postmark. Unused divided-back 'POST CARD' (For Correspondence / For Address only) with 1¢ domestic / 2¢ foreign stamp box; linen-textured white-border card published by The M. Kashower Co., Los Angeles, c. 1930s. No handwriting, no damage beyond light toning.
