About this postcard
A road curves along the edge of a lake or pond, with a white railing at the water and trees framing the view. A car is parked on the road. The printed greeting reads "Greetings from Lone Tree, Iowa," a common way for small-town cards to pair a local name with a generic scenic view. In the message, a sender signing herself Letha tells Waunetta Walthour in Mulberry, Kansas, that she is having a nice time on a farm near the Iowa River, with the river just behind the wood lot, and passes along an invitation for Charlie to come fishing. The note dates from late August 1928, when Lone Tree was a small Johnson County farm town.
