About this postcard
A lithographed greeting card built around a large oval bouquet of pansies, forget-me-nots, bluebells, snowdrops and white heather, set against a pale green ground with white and blue Art Nouveau scrollwork. The printed verse at left, headed "Language of Flowers," assigns each blossom its Victorian sentiment — hope, thought, love, constancy and good luck — and is signed by the versifier G. Preston-Wynne. Such floral "language" cards were a popular Edwardian way of sending a sweetheart message without stating it plainly.
