About this postcard
A floral postcard built around a large oval bouquet of pansies, forget-me-nots, bluebells, snowdrops, and white heather, set against a pale green ground with white and blue Art Nouveau scrollwork. The verse headed "Language of Flowers" gives each blossom its Victorian sentiment: snowdrop for hope, pansy for thought, forget-me-not for love, bluebell for constancy, and white heather for good luck. It is signed C. Preston-Wynne. The sender used the card for an everyday friendly note, mentioning mild weather and an evening of skating with Clara. Floral language cards were a popular way to send a sweetheart message without stating it plainly in the early 20th century.
