Large letter "Greetings from Santa Fe, New Mexico", circa 1940

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A large-letter greeting card spells out "SANTA FE" in block letters filled with New Mexico scenes: adobe pueblo buildings, a cross-topped monument, a plaza with a figure in a red blanket, a tree, a Native American in a feathered headdress, a mission church, and a burro caravan. Around the letters are two pack burros, a woman in a ruffled dress holding flowers, and a mariachi trio in sombreros, with "NEW MEXICO" in red below. Santa Fe, founded in 1610, is the oldest capital city in the United States and the center of Pueblo and Spanish colonial culture that these vignettes celebrate.
