About this postcard

The word LAS CRUCES fills the card in large block letters, each letter filled with views of the Mesilla Valley: mountains, yucca, a downtown street with cars, brick commercial buildings, and a church. A yellow and red banner reads "Greetings from New Mexico." The printed caption calls Las Cruces "a beautiful city in the fertile Mesilla Valley" and notes its long settlement from Spanish colonial times, its cotton and agricultural base, and the State Agricultural College, now New Mexico State University. The card also repeats the local claim that Cabeza de Vaca and his companions likely passed near here in 1536.
