About this postcard
A paved two-lane highway sweeps through a broad valley in Page County, Virginia, with a split-rail fence and small roadside sign at right and wooded ridges fading into the Blue Ridge distance. The caption identifies the road as the Lee Highway, the early twentieth-century name for the route through the Shenandoah Valley (later largely US Route 11), shown here at the approach to Shenandoah National Park. The park was established in 1935 and its Skyline Drive, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, made the Blue Ridge a popular motoring destination in the years this card was printed.
