About this postcard

The photograph shows Limberlost Cabin, a two-story wooden house with a low stone wall and a small sign at the front. The Geneva, Indiana, house was the home of naturalist and author Gene Stratton-Porter, whose books about the Limberlost Swamp made the region familiar to readers. The swamp was drained in the early 20th century, and her writing became a record of its wildlife. The card labels the house as a state memorial, the role it held after the state acquired it.
