About this postcard

A three-quarter view of the Lincoln Memorial, its white marble Doric colonnade and attic frieze rising above open lawn and plantings, with a pale blue sky behind. The memorial, designed by Henry Bacon and dedicated in 1922, honors Abraham Lincoln and houses Daniel Chester French's seated statue in its central chamber. Its temple form deliberately echoes Greek architecture, and it stands in West Potomac Park at the western end of the National Mall.
