Little River Dam and Central Avenue Bridge, Wichita, Kansas, circa 1935

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A low dam spans the Little River in the foreground, with water spilling over its crest, while the Central Avenue Bridge crosses behind it on concrete piers with a white railing. Beyond the bridge, a grassy park-like bank with scattered trees and small buildings stretches under a pale sky. The Central Avenue Bridge carried traffic over the Little Arkansas River in Wichita, and the small dam beside it was a familiar local landmark of the city's riverside park system in the early 20th century.
