Log cabins at the camps, Round Mountain Lake, ME, 1908

About this postcard

A row of long, low log cabins with covered porches lines the right side of a clearing, with a large shade tree at left and a stand of mixed conifers behind. The caption names the camps at Round Mountain Lake, Maine. Lakeside cabin camps like these were common in the early 20th century, when sportsmen and summer families took rustic quarters in the western Maine woods for fishing and outings. Eustis, in the mountains near the Rangeley Lakes, was a gateway to that camp country.
