About this postcard

A black-and-white view of a logging crew wit roughly two dozen men in overalls, work shirts and wide-brimmed hats posed standing along a high stack of cut tree trunks, with a steam donkey engine and its tall smokestack at the right and a horse-drawn wagon at the left. Felled logs lie scattered in the grass in the foreground. Such group portraits were commonly made by itinerant photographers to record a camp's season output during the peak of steam-era logging in North America.
