Logging train and ark raft kitchens, Williamsport, PA, circa 1900

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A logging train hauls a long load of cut timber through a town of wooden buildings. Below, a crew stands along a riverbank beside the ark raft kitchens. Both captions date the scenes to about 1900, when lumbering still depended on rail lines and river rafts to move timber. Williamsport, Pennsylvania, was a major lumber center in that era.
