London Bridge with traffic over the River Thames, London, England, circa 1910

About this postcard

A view along the roadway of London Bridge, crowded with pedestrians, horse-drawn wagons and early motor buses, with the River Thames and a barge below and the north bank buildings beyond. The caption names the bridge, the stone-arched structure that carried traffic across the Thames between the City and Southwark until it was dismantled in the 1960s and re-erected at Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The dense riverside blocks and dome on the far bank place the scene in early twentieth-century London.
