About this postcard

A curving sweep of sandy beach meets calm water, with a rocky, tree-topped headland beyond where several large shingled summer houses and a hotel-like building stand on the bluff. The card names the spot as Long Beach in Marblehead, Massachusetts, a North Shore town long associated with yachting and summer resort life; the shoreline shown is the barrier beach area near Marblehead's harbor entrance. The photograph was copyrighted in 1905 by the Rotograph Co., a New York firm that supplied printed photographic views to the postcard trade.
