About this postcard
The card shows Longfellow's House in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a Georgian clapboard mansion behind a white fence, lawn, and flower beds. Its columned portico, dormers, and balustraded roof are visible. The caption dates the house to 1759 and notes that George Washington had his headquarters there. Washington used it during the siege of Boston in 1775-76, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lived here from 1837 until his death in 1882. The house is now Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters National Historic Site.
