About this postcard
The view looks east along Felix Street in St. Joseph, Missouri, with the Blocks clothing store on the left under a large projecting sign and awnings, and the Plymouth Clothing Co. on the corner beyond. Pedestrians fill the sidewalks while a horse-drawn carriage with a striped awning stands in the roadway. St. Joseph was a Missouri River trading and outfitting center, and its downtown blocks along Felix Street held clothing, dry goods, and shoe merchants in this era. The storefronts, awnings, and horse-drawn traffic show the commercial streetscape of the period.
