About this postcard
The picture shows Looking Glass Falls, a broad curtain of white water dropping over a dark rock ledge into a bright blue pool, framed by evergreens and autumn-tinted foliage. The caption names it as being in Pisgah National Forest in western North Carolina. The falls take their name from nearby Looking Glass Rock, a granite dome that shines like a mirror when wet, and the site lies just off U.S. Highway 64 in the Transylvania County section of the forest, land once part of George Vanderbilt's Biltmore estate holdings that became Pisgah National Forest in 1916.
