Sepia-toned elevated view looking south from Mentone on Lookout Mountain, with a large tree silhouetted at left, wooded slopes, and a broad valley with fields and distant hills under a cloudy sky.

Dr. Barrow.
this is the hamlet of Valley Head.
the view gives you an idea of the
topography of the land in these
parts. In the far horizon can be
seen the rising Cumberlands.
We took a trip down the new Sky-
line Highway yesterday that follows
the crest of Lookout Mtn from
Chatt westward. Its a
wonderful drive. I went to Chatt
yesterday to try and get in the Naval
Reserve Officers School but my
eyes failed the exam - So it'll look
like it'll be the regular army.
