About this postcard
Looking south down Main Street in Dayton, Ohio, the street is lined with a tall rusticated stone office block on the left, a yellow-tinted high-rise beyond it, and lower commercial buildings with awnings and signs on the right. Horse-drawn wagons and pedestrians in early-1900s dress share the roadway with trolley tracks and overhead wires. A sign for Harvey's S2S & S Tiger Hat is visible on the right-hand block. Dayton was then a manufacturing and patent-medicine center, and Main Street served as its main commercial artery before the 1913 flood and later suburban growth reshaped downtown.
