About this postcard
A monochrome halftone view looks out over the water from Port Antonio, Jamaica, with the town's wharves, sheds and tree-covered hillside in the middle distance and open sea beyond. Port Antonio, on Jamaica's northeast coast, was developed in the late 19th century as a banana-shipping port and became a fashionable winter resort, its sheltered twin harbours attracting steamships and visitors from the United States and Britain. The card's own caption names the vantage point, looking seaward past the waterfront.
