About this postcard
Lovers' Lane curves between dense trees and a grassy bank in this shaded view at Spring Mount, Pennsylvania. The unpaved lane and heavy canopy suggest a cool rural walk in summer. Spring Mount is a small Montgomery County community near Schwenksville and the Perkiomen Creek, and in the early twentieth century the Perkiomen Valley drew summer visitors from Philadelphia and nearby towns. Howard sent the card to his aunt and uncle in Riverside, New Jersey, with a short note reporting a great time. The message is a plain vacation greeting, the sort of quick note that postcards carried in the summer of 1918.
